Today Bruns went over the rubric for our powerpoint. He also showed us a list of how to be successful on our projects. Then we started going over blog discussions.
1) Native American cultures BEFORE arrival of Europeans.
-they left everything how it was, didnt waste anything
-no technology, made their own weapons
-a lot hunted, many were nomadic
AFTER
-they were introduced to guns
-forced out of regular habitats
-forced onto reservations with indians they didnt get along with
-had to change religions
-many died from diseases and wars
2) Describe reasons why Europeans started exploring in the late 1400s
-started exploring for a better life and food
-wanted to get spices from Asia
-wanted money for power
-wanted to escape persecution
-to get riches and trade
-better technology-ships, compass
3) List major countries that explored the new world
-portugal-prince henry the navigator, vasco de gama ..settled in brazil
-england-east coast, 13 colonies
-spain-magellan(first person to cicumnavigate) , christopher colombus, cortez ..settled in mexico and south america.
-france-settled in canada, along mississippi
-netherlands-didnt last long
4) Describe why people left Europe(started settling in the new world)
-religious freedom
-make money
-escape from bad things you've done, have an adventure
-fur trade, farming
