Today we continued our Presentations:
Deforestation- it is the destruction and cutting down of forests and trees for commercial uses. It is a problem because we don't always replace what we use up.
- Causes: illegal and legal logging (cutting down trees for like personal uses), Over population, Slash and Burn farming (cut down as much as they can and burn it to use ashes to help fertalize land), wild fires, commercial and industrial uses(McDonalds for burger packaging), overgrazing(cattle), acid rain, dams and houses and such, poverty.
- Effects: Destoys wildlife homes, increases farming, couses erosions and landslides, dries up soil, causes climate change, and loss of indigenous homes (people who live in forest), less oxygen.
- Why we need trees: Regulates and cools earth, source of paper, improves air, keeps soil rich, prevents green houses gasses from amassing, absorbs trapped dust particles
- Examples of Deforestation: Indonesia, Malaysia, Amazon Rain Forest, Latin American forests
- Help: Plant more trees, REDUCE REUSE RECYCLE, avoid deforestation products, doante to deforestation organizations, help keep and build national parks, you can buy an acre that becomes protected for sixty seven dollars
- 32 million acres of forests depleating every year
Lastly we went over the European map and our test is going to be a week from this Friday.
