Today we started out by playing Jenna and Erin's game. It was called Pin the Moustache on Adolf Hitler. Next we went into the China.
1. How did the Treaty of Versailles impact them?
China didn't get any land from the Treaty of Versailles. They were promised land but did not get any of this promised land.
2. What type(s) of government did this country have in the interwar years(1919-1938)?
They had a mix government. They had a Nationalist and Communist government. This meant that they had two different leaders. The Nationalist leader was Shang Kai Shek and the Communist leader was Mao Zedong.
3. How did their leader, that led them throughout WWII, come to power?
Shang Kai Shek took over after the death of Sun Yat-Sen. The two parties were having a civil war and Mao Zedong eventually won. He became the first communist leader in China.
4. How did this leader change their country(for the better and worse) prior to WWII?
Shang Kai Shek wanted to defeat communism befoer they would attack Japan in World War II. The Xi'an acciden caused communists and nationalists to come together to fight Japan.
5. What were the goals of the leader
Shang Kai Shek wanted to get rid of the communist party. He wanted to become allies with the communist people of China. When they were invaded by Japan he thought that they should become allies.
6. What was the military strategy of this country in the inter-war years(1919-1938)?
When Japan invaded it caused the Second Sino-Japanese War. China was pretty much unprepared for the war when the Japanese invaded them. China wanted to secure as many natural resources as possible before the Japanese could take them. They had a resistence strategy. This meant that they would retreat and wanted to trade space for time. They wanted to prolong the war as long as possible to make the soldiers tired. China destroyed a major coal mine and railroad system so the Japanese could not use the coal.
7. What role did they play in WWII?
China was ally of the United States during the war. They were also a major part of the Pacific war against Japan.
8. Who were their allies in WWII?
China's allies were United States, Soviet Union, Great Britain, Australia, Canada, France, China, and many others. They were a part of the Allied powers.
9. How did WWII impact/effect the country?
Many people died from disease, starvation, massacres, bombing, and deliberate genocide. An estimated 7.5 million people died from all of these causes.
