Today I continued to research Muckrakers. Today I learned that some of the earliest Muckraking began in the 1870's. I learned that cartoons that were drawn by Thomas Nast were considered Muckraking. He drew cartoons about the government and what was going wrong in the country, which was considered pre-muckraking. I also learned about a new act that was passed because of the Muckrakers. The act that was passed was called the Federal Reserve Act. Next I looked up more on Yellow Journalism I learned that the practice of yellow journalism usually involved distorted stories and misleading images. I also learned that the newspaper companies would do this to boost newspaper sales and excite public opinion. After researching I started my project. I also learned that because of the problems that are class was having with the Internet Mr. Bruns and Ms. Bryan decided to give us an extra workday. I am very happy to be given the extra day because I have a lot of information to put into my project.
