January 11th - 15th

Monday - We finished the class rules and expectations. We also know extra credit opportunities. We learned the capitals of all 50 states. Mr. Bruns also went nuclear power treaties/organizations. This link is for studying for the test. The security council is the most powerful branch of the United Nations because they are the military branch.  North Korea and South Korea at war which is called the Korean War. The war ended in a stalemate when they agreed to stop fighting. The aren't at peace but they have stop fighting to this day.

Tuesday - In class today, we went over the western side of the United States, learning the states and capitals. Then we looked at a couple of videos about counter-terrorism. Al Qaeda currently resides in Afghanistan. Isis trains children to back up their army. The 1% has 40% of the countries money and own 50% of stocks and bonds. Candidates like Bernie Sanders are fighting to make salaries more equal. North Korea focuses their money on their military. Kim Il Sung ruled North Korea from 1948-1994. Then his son Kim Jong Il ruled from 1994-2011. Then his son Kim Jong-un currently rules North Korea. The country has become worse since his rule.

Wednesday - Watched videos in Iran and State of the Union. We continued on topic of North Korea. In 1993, North Korea announced its withdrawal from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. In 2002, George Bush puts North Korea on the "axis of evil". In 2003, the Six Party Talks started. The United States, South Korea, North Korea, China, Russia, and Japan attend. The purpose is the dismantle is North Korea's nuclear weapons programs. Shortly there after, they agree to dismantle their program to trade with them. Shortly afterwards they back out of the deal. In 2006, the six party talks start again. North Korea agrees to stop their nuclear weapons program. Again they back out of the deal a year after.

Thursday - Today, we started off  by looking at Hurricane Alex. Hurricane Alex is a very odd hurricane that formed out of the hurricane season. Politics, mainly Democrats, think that climate change is a serious deal. While Republicans think it's rediculous. Then we went over the ten most populated countries. I learned today that Isis attacked Jakarta, Indonesia, killing two people. In February, 2013, North Korea conducted it's third nuclear test. In March, 2013, the United Nations put tougher sanctions on North Korea. On April 23 2015, China says North Korea is getting missiles (20-40 in the next year.) In 2016, North Korea detonates it's first hydrogen bomb.
