US Invasion on Afghanistan (Weekly assigned blog 3)

Starting on October 7,2001 the United States along with Great Britain decided to invade Afghanistan. This was decided in response to the September 11 terrorist attacks. Al-Qaeda, which is a terrorist group in Afghanistan, were proved to have supported the terrorist attacks. The Taliban were also included in the attacks. Operation Enduring Freedom was the official name of this invasion. It was decided that the invasion would annihilate the sources of Al-Qaeda. The invasion would put a stop to the terrorist activities in the bases on the territory of Afghanistan. The key reason of the invasion was mostly to find Osama bin Laden and other of the high-ranking members of the Taliban. Other main reasons were to wipe out the entire organization of the Al-Qaeda and destroy the Taliban regime.

Combat operations were made early with a combination of bombs and missiles. They were both on the ground and aerial. Special Operation Forces were sent in from the US Troops to attack specific Taliban groups. By mid-December, most of the Afghan enemies were found hidden in caves while other were on the run. The United States also made a special safe haven for all the innocent and good people of Afghanistan. This way some of the people there could still be safe and secure during the war that was soon to come after the invasion.

If the United States didn't invade Afghanistan who even knows what it would be like today. Of course the was there right now is pretty bad, but without it things could even be worse. The country of Afghanistan would continue to be severely bad from the intense violence and suffering that would repeat constantly. It would also be under the command of the dreaded Taliban. These problems still occur. It is needless to say though that the war is helping in as many ways possible. I believe this whole thing is horrible. Of course the war is bad and nobody really wants it but what they did is even worse and the Afghan people need to be stopped before it is too late to do anything.Sources: Ohio History Center, Google Images, and FPIF.
