These are my notes from class today....Andrew Jackson..- fought in the french and indian war- US hero, after saving New Orleans- lost against Quince Adams in 1824- better person for the common people- started living poor--born in a log cabin, ended out being fairly wealthy- won election is 1828- favored for drive towards equality- 1832 elected again- supporter of the spoils system- tried to get rid of the electoral college, process in which we elect the presidents of the united states- trail of tears, kicked out the native americans from florida to the southern states and moved them all out westWhen we aquired land...- started out 13 colonies- made a treaty with france to get florida- louisiana purchase from france- mexican american war for the south west- got texas after texas got its independence from mexico- 1867 bought alaska from russia- hawaii anexed late 1800
