January 18-22

Monday -  We watched a video on Martin Luther King. Half of the worlds money is owned by the top 62 billionaires. The poverty rate is lowering and the poverty line is a dollar and 90 cents. Income inequality refers to the extent to which income is distributed in an uneven manner among the population. The income inequality is getting worse over the years. The Gini index is the measure of income and equality. People who affects their life in lots of ways. Eight percent of the poor will receive a 4 year degree, while 55 percent of the rich receive a four degree. The rich live longer at 79.2 years, while 74.7 years are the life expectancy of the poor.

Tuesday - We watched a video about life in North Korea.

Wednesday - Continued watching the video about life in North Korea.

Thursday - Finished North Korea video. Discussed politics for Iowa. A primary holds an election where you stand in the line and you vote for the person you want. A caucus is a group of people who side with what person they want to be elected.
