The poor will rise up and everyone will be fair with money.•The Practice of Communism- When the government controls everything so whatever you make they can take from you and share it equally with everyone claiming it will help a higher social order. Only five countries in the world use the practice of communism. The practice of communism is very strict.•Direct Democracy- People as a whole making decisions. There are not any examples of places that practice direct democracy.•Representative Democracy- the people elect congress members to make laws for them. France, Canada, Germany, Sweden, India, and the United States are examples of places that have a representative democracy.•Socialism- government owns and controls businesses.•Capitalism- When businesses are privately owned and operated by civilians. This was developed in the 16th century in Europe. Mexico and the United States are examples of places that use Capitalism.•Dictator- One person has complete and total power. An example of this would be Hitler.•Anarchy- Not a government system.DIFFERENCES BETWEEN POLITICAL PARTIES IN THE UNITED STATES-Republicans are more conservative which means they are stricter.-Democrats are more liberal which means they are more open to different options.•Abortion- Democrats are for abortion because they think the woman should be able to choose if they want an abortion of not. Republicans are against abortion because they think that you shouldn’t have a choice of if you want to have an abortion or not. They think you should not be able to get an abortion.•Flag Burning- Democrats are split on this topic. Some Democrats think that it should be banned because the flag is a powerful symbol. Others think that if affects the freedom of expression or free speech. Republicans are against it because they think it is a powerful symbol.•Gun Control- Democrats think we need more gun regulations. This means only certain people can have certain types of guns. Republicans think that people should be allowed to have weapons because of the second amendment. Guns are illegal in Australia.•Environmental Laws- Democrats are more environmentally considerate compared to Republicans. Democrats don’t think that we should be drilling for oil in Alaska. They are concerned it will have a negative impact on the environment. Republicans think that the world is indestructible and it can’t get any worse then how it already is.•Affirmative Action Laws- Democrats support it and Republicans are against it. Democrats think it is wrong to discriminate someone because of their color. Republicans are against it because they think that people shouldn’t be told who they can hire and who they can’t hire.•Immigration- Republicans are against immigration because they believe we need to have more regulations and stricter laws. Republicans think prayer in school should be allowed.CAUSES AND EFFECTS OF GLOBAL WARMINGGlobal warming is caused from factories, people, and carbon dioxide from trees, burning of coal, vehicles, water vapor, fossil fuels, and gasses. Some of global warming is that there are so many CO2 emissions that cloud up the atmosphere. Some of the effects of global warming are the ice caps that are melting. There is lots of disagreement on this topic but yet no one knows if there really is global warming or not. Senator James Inhofe believes that global warming is a myth while lots of other people think that there really is global warming going on. Many bugs carry diseases that are in their blood then they go south and spread the diseases. Other effects of global warming are the amount of droughts we have, and trees can also die because of this.CAUSES AND EFFECTS OF OVERPOPULATIONThe definition of overpopulation is when there are too many people in one place. There is deterioration in the environment and there are not enough resources. There are four main reasons for overpopulation. The death rate is declining because doctors are coming up with medicines that help people get better instead of getting sick and dying. There is also birth rate. There is more medicine that you can get now days to get better fertility. Migration is another reason. When lots of people move to one place there are not enough resources so they run out. The last reason is the lack of education. Kids in school don’t get taught about overpopulation so they are not aware of it. The effects of overpopulation are natural resources get used up faster and they can’t be replaced very fast. In Africa women are considered second to men. Women do not have control over their own lives. If the men want babies that’s what they are going to get. This is because they think you should have as many babies as god sends you. If the man wants a boy then the women has to have babies until they get a boy.IMPACT OF GLOBALIZATIONThere are three types of globalization. They are countries globalizing, companies globalizing, and individuals globalizing. Today people communicate through technology. The people in our generation need to be able to use technology because in the future we will be competing with other countries for jobs. For example China works for cheaper so most likely people would rather hire the person from China rather than someone in the United States. With technology we can pretty much find anything out that we want to and it is definitely a big impact on our world.IRAQWe went to war in Iraq in 1990 because we had to help push Iraq out of Kuwait. After that we put restrictions on Iraq. The restrictions were that they could not have troops on the northern or southern part of their country. To make sure that Iraq stayed true to these restrictions the UN had jet flyers that would fly over and check on them. Then the UN invaded Iraq and we caught Hussein. It is a little bit safer there now but not completely safe. By January of 2012 we should be out of Iraq unless the Iraqi people want us to stay to help protect them.In 2003 there were a lot of people that thought we went to Iraq because of 9/11. But we actually went to Iraq because of Saddam Hussein. He was the president of Iraq and had nuclear weapons.AFGANISTANWe invaded Afghanistan because of 9/11. On 9/11 there were four planes that were hijacked. One crashed into the pentagon, one crashed into a corn field, and two of them crashed into the Twin Towers. There were 2,993 that died because of all of this. The people that were to blame for this were the member of Al-Qaeda. The Al-Qaeda is a terrorist group that was formed by Bin Laden in the 1980’s. They were supported by the Taliban. The Taliban were an Islamic group that controlled Afghanistan.IRANThe Iran government was making and giving nuclear weapons to Iraq. They were doing this to kill American troops. Iran is mad that we are protecting Israel. Iran told us about this and we signed a treaty with them that said we would stop. We recently found weapons in Iraq that were made by Iran. Iran is now building a secret uranium factory. This factory is to help produce more nuclear weapons. They say they have the uranium factory for nuclear energy but we don’t really believe that. In the 1950’s their nuclear program started. Europe and the United States helped get the whole thing started. They decided to do this to help save oil. The United States relation with Iran is not the best. One time they took 70 United States citizens and kept them hostage for 474 days. The United States and Iran were once allies.SOMALIASomalia is a failed state. A failed state is a weak government who can not control their own area they live in. The government can not provide basic services to its people. An example of a basic service would be water, sanitation, and things you need in daily life. They can’t control crime. People often times move away from places with weak governments. Over a billion people live in countries with a failed government. When a government fails it is usually after a civil war, hurricane, earthquake, and other natural disasters. As of right now Iraq and Afghanistan are the sixth and seventh states most fraught for danger in the world. To determine whether or not a state has failed you have to look at the people. Are the people leaving, are they happy with what the government has done for them, do they feel there is crime, and so on. Somalia is the number one failed state in the world. Somalia is an anarchy. They have no authority.RWANDAWithin the span of 100 days 800,000 people from Rwanda were killed. Most of the people that died were Tutsis and most of the people that were doing the killing were Hutu. The killing started because their president Habyarimana died because on April 6 1994 the plane he was on got shot down. There is a French judge that blames a guy named Paul Kagame. He was the leader of the Tutsi rebel group. Paul says he has nothing to do with it and the Hutus should be blamed for it. The violence in Rwanda lasted three months. The president’s death was not the only reason for this genocide. In Rwanda there have always been problems between the Hutus and the Tutsis. Both groups have a lot in common. They speak the same language, are in the same areas, and have the same traditions. Tutsis are usually tall and thin but Hutus don’t always have those characteristics. Tutsis were considered better than the Hutus. This made the Tutsis get better jobs and get a better education. This upset the Hutus so they started riots. Because of the riots 20,000 people died. So then the Hutu took their place. The Tutsi people that fled their country to escape the conflict wanted to be back on their land. This is when the decided to make the Rwandan Patriotic Front. In 1993 there was finally a peace accord that was signed between the president and the RPF. Within hours after the presidents plane was shot down recruits were set out all over the country. There was a group of militia that was put together that had around 30,000 people in it. In July the RPF caught Kigali and the government collapsed. The government is now run by the Tutsis.DARFURAfter the on going problem in Sudan ended Darfur got scared that they would lose access to resources that they needed. Darfur said that Sudan likes Arabs more than non-Arabs. This is what started the fighting. Sudan ordered the Janjanweed and Sudanese military to attack the Africans. They tortured them by raping, cutting off limbs, ethnic cleansing, bombing civilian targets, and murdering, starving, and smashing faces. President Bashir gave the land to the Janjanweed because he didn’t want non-Arabs to have the land. Over 400,000 people were killed and 2.5 million people were displaced. There were a lot of people that fled the Chad for refugee camps.
