Two fifteen year olds are booked with murder by New Orleans police because their mothers noticed the resemblance of their sons and police sketches after the murder of a French Quarter bartender. They were booked with first-degree murder and attempted armed robbery in the death of 39 year old Wendy Byrne. There was a third suspect but police do not know where he’s at, but they do have his identity. The juvenile court is still deciding whether to prosecute the teens as adults or leave the case in the juvenile system. Wendy was walking with another man at about 8 p.m. Saturday night while three boys approached her and the man, one had a gun, and demanded money. Wendy did not resist giving them money but at some point one of the boys shot her and the teens left the scene without her money. Wendy died on the scene. The three teens just robbed another man minutes earlier near where Wendy and the man were. The police arrested the first suspect Tuesday morning and he confessed to pulling the trigger and shooting Wendy. The second suspect’s mother called 911 and told them her son’s role in the murder. That boy also confessed after turning himself in Tuesday. The teens had been previously arrested before. The shooter had been arrested for violating curfew. The other boy was arrested twice before for auto theft. Police say though there are surveillance cameras are mounted across the French Quarter, they did not play a role in the case.
