tuesday--3-9-10

Today we started presentations. Me and Amanda did ours first today. We talked about Australia. That is pretty much all we got to today. We started Canada a little bit. Tomorrow we are having a WTL about Australia and what the got from the Treaty of Versailles and what role did they play in WWII.

Canada

1. How did the Treaty of Versailles impact them?

-They got a small chunk of money from Germany. They got a little because of damage, but they didn’t receive big chunks of money like other countries. They didn’t receive and money or land from the Treaty.


2. What type(s) of government did this country have in the interwar years (1919-1938)?

The Military Service act was that you could be enlisted in the war if you were 18.


3. How did their leader, that led them throughout WWII, come to power?

Sir Robert Borden retired and Arthur Meighen took his place. A year later the liberal party took his place and William Lyon Mackenzie King was now the leader.


4. How did this leader change their country (for the better and worse) prior to WWII?

He set up new scientific facilities and stuff.

7. What role did they play in WWII?
-They provided pilots and troops. England would send their troops over to Canada to train before they went into the war.

8. Who were their allies in WWII?
Their allies were the Allied Powers.

We only got through two presentations today.
