Today, Mr. Bruns talked about stuff for a really really long time. Cultures clash on the prairies, ch. 5-1. Plains Indians lived in the Great Plains. Great Plains extended throughout the west central portion of the US. Four important tribes are Dakota, Cheyenne, Sioux, Comanche. Buffalo were valued. they used every part of it. Followed the buffalo, so they used teepees. Indians on horseback with bows, or they ran them to a cliff. Only killed what they needed. Indians had many gods. they had powwows and headpieces. First horses came from Spain. Indians lived in small family groups, stories told to younguns to teach them stuff. Women had to do all the work except hunt, fight, and make weapons and tools. Settlers pushed Indians wayyyyyyyy out west. Lots of settlers moved west for gold and silver. Vaqueros tought the first American cowboys. Jerky was called charqui. Good stuff.
