Today in history we worked on our projects again.Immigrants came on a steamship. The trip that immigrants took who came across the Atlantic took about a week, while across the Pacific took about three weeks. Many got diseases from being close to many people, and some died before getting to America.Immigrants went to Ellis Island on the east cost, which was an immigration station. Immigrants were kept there for abround five hours, and they were given an examination by a doctor. If someone had a disease, they were sent home immediately. From 1892-1924 17 million immgrants passed through Ellis Island.
