Today we are continuing working on our blogs and researching our topics. Mr. Bruns helped me with what to blog about in the after the Progressive Era category.I can talk about the rights they earned, such as voting and being able to play sports. Title Nine allowed them to play sports at schools and was passed in 1972. In 2002, it was renamed the Pasty T. Mink Equal Opportunity in Education Act. The law stated, "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance." The controversey in Title Nine is that programs for male athletes has gone downhill. I personally do not believe this is much of a problem, especially here at Harlan. Also, I can talk about women's right to vote.
