This morning Mr. Bruns talked about our Cold War projects. He said that we would probly start presenting tomarrow. We will start with volunteers and then go straight down the line of topics. He then finished up his "Mop-Up Presentation:
The United States wanted Iwo Jima for the airstrip and the only mountain that was on that island. The Manhatten project was made in Los Alamos and was tested out at Alamorgordo. The first atomic bomb was Trinity. Enola Gay was a Fortress designed to drop the bomb. This Fortress also dropped the atomic bomb little boy on Hiroshima. The Bockscar dropped the other atomic bomb, Fat Boy, on Japan. Bockscar almost ran out of fuel on the way back but in the end Japan surrendered after the second atomic bomb. The Yalta conferance basically said that Germany would be broken up into east and west Germany. The GI BIll of rights was aimed at soilders coming back from war. It helped them get jobs, and helped them out finacially with college. Japanese Americans that were in america were forced into Intermet Camps. here they were given an education and were alowed to play sports but 50 years later bill Clinton released them and gave them money.
