1979- detente ended...mujaheddin fight communist, we gave money and weapons and helped strengthen Taliban,, early 80's us and soviet union cold war heated up. Iraq and Iran at war . we helped build up the group that took down us in 9/11.
Cold War ended- Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev - meet in mid 80's - he announced Soviet Union were going to change ,admitted instating cold war.
1990's- al-Qaeda , Saddam Hussein became problems for US
Persian Gulf War- Sudan Hussein invaded Kuwait . Then we went into help because we were scared they were going to invade Saudi Arabia. We attacked and forced them out of Kuwait, all lead to 9/11 - Hussein would not let them go certain places , saw us as invaders
Iraq War- 2003-2001- we invade in March 2003 , War ends under Obama in December 2011
War in Afghanistan - invaded after 9/11, Taliban allowed Hussein to be there,
