Senator Joe McCarthy and McCarthyism

1. Began his campaign in 1944 while he was still on active duty
2. He knew how to sell himself...he would attack other candidates
3. first red scare was from 1917-1920
4. Question people and if they didnt give up names of communists they knew they were pretty much thrown into jail
5. The second red scare was after WW2 from 1947-1957
6. A lot of people were trialed and if they didnt fess up names they were guilty

1. First international crisis in the cold war
2. Yalta Conference split Berlin into four parts
3. U.S, Soviet Union, Great Britain, and France each had control of one of the areas
4. Stalin blockaded people of Berlin
5. Stalin wanted a weak Germany because they wouldnt threaten the USSR
