Joe McCarthy and McCarthyism
--The First Red Scare: almost immediatly after the Armistice of 1918(end of WWI), afraid communism would take over,immigrants were being deported, dock/steelworker strikes, police strike in Boston, bombs being sent through the mail to high ranking officials, feared communism was spreading like wildfire
--within a few years had high reputation, feared
--brutally attacked other polititions
--Korean War: people afraid that communism had entered America
--basically responsible for second Red Scare
