Treaty of Versailles Project
Australia-
They got German New Guinea, Bismarck, Archipelago, and Nauru. They had a Federal Constitutional Monarchy- They have a monarch, but its only there for tradition. Also have a prime minister, or someone who they elect to make rules. John Curtin didn't want to follow Robert Menzie's government plan because he thought it would split up the labor party. The two independent MP's decided to go with Curtin and he was th Prime Minister. He really didn't change they were just there for support before and during the war. They didn't have a purpose in the war besides protecting and defending Great Britain.
The military strategy was to basically just follow what Great Britain did. Great Britain gave land to Hitler to stay out of war. Australia could not use pilots and only 100 men. They did not fight in Australia. The United States and Great Britain were Australia’s allies. WW2 made them start having more factories, their peacetime grew and they became better "friends" with the US.
Canada-
The Treaty of Versailles slightly impacted Canada. Canada received a small part of indemnities from Germany. It did not though receive any money or land through the Treaty. Sir Robert Borden retired in 1920 then Arthur Meighen succeeded in his place. In the election of 1921, the Liberal Party took back office under a new leader, William Lyon Mackenzie King.
The government was kind of like Australia’s, they had a king but she didn’t really do much. Between WWI and WW2, they tried to turn toward isolation. The only reason they did get involved into the war because of Great Britain.
