Today we continued Bruns' powerpoint..There was only one problem for Hitler to invade France and that was because of the Maginot Line...so Hitler decided to go thru Belgium to invade France...Germany defeated France because they were not really for battle...they thought they had complete protection with the Maginot Line...The Vichy Govt helped Hitler to round up the french jews...Government was led by Marshal Henri Petain...Free French Underground was led by Charles de Gaulle and they fled to Great Britain...Nazi goal was to destroy the Royal Air Force...Germany statrted bombing people at night which made everyone nervous cuz their bombs would pretty much go wherever because they couldn't really see where they were bombing...Great Britain aided heavily on usage of radar and by ULTRA(decoding system)...Churchill once said "never was so much owed by so many owed to so few"...referring to how the Royal Air Force pretty much saved Great Britain from being attacked by Germany...Herman Goering was leader of the Luftwaffe and became leader of Germany after Hitler committed suicide...Cash and Carry System stated that the if the French and British wanted to trade with US, they had to pay upfront and get the goods with there own boats...Bases for Destroyers said the US would give Great Britain old destroyer boats in return Britain would give us 99 year leases for naval bases...Most death camps were located in Poland...Germany had a lot of concentration camps but no death camps...
