Vladimir Lenin, was the first leader of the Soviet Union. He helped getting them out of World War One. The theory goes like this; the vast majority in the country is common people. The rich people dominate over the common people. This is the theory of communism. Lenin died within a couple of years and Stalin took over as the leader.
Some of the new countries that emerged with Czechoslovakia, Poland, Austria, Yugoslavia, Finland, Estonia, Lithuania, etc. There were a lot of changes made to the land. A lot of the land was taken away from Germany to countries surrounding them. They also lost their colonies around the war, some to Japan. The League of Nations also took control of German’s overseas colonies and to keep world peace. Germany’s army was reduced and their army was not allowed any tanks and an air force. League of Nations failed as an organization because 1.) The US never joined. 2.) It did not have a military force to do what it said.
Benito Mussolini grew up in a Catholic family, his father was an atheist. He was more like his father. He was expelled out of Catholic school because he stabbed someone with a knife. Mussolini became the fascist dictator of Italy by King Manuel. King Victory Manuel did not want Italy to become communist. Fascism is where they control you but do not take over the businesses and have a strong military.
The Washington Naval Conference in general was all about reducing naval size. Great Britain, France, US, Japan and Italy agreed to reduced their own naval size. It was one of their goals throughout the 1920’s. China had the open door policy that allowed free trade with other countries.
