Today we went over the maps for Central America, South America, and the Caribbean Islands. Mr. Bruns said we will have this test sometime next week. Then Isaac did his blog discussion because he was gone yesterday. It was about a new solar powered yacht. Mr. Bruns continued to talk about his powerpoint about Democrats and Republicans and their views on popular topics. It's pretty much a review of what we learned during our Democrat/Republican debates we had last quarter. He talked about gun control laws and which states are more lenient or more tougher on them. Most southeast states are more lenient to guns because they are Republicans and are agricultural-based. President Linden Johnson first came up with affirmative action laws to prevent discrimination of African-Americans and other minority groups. Within the past few years, affirmative action laws have begun to fade because of reverse discrimination. An example of reverse discrimination would be when a white person and a black person are both interviewing for the same job and the black person is picked just because he is an African-American. Back in 2008, Nebraska as a state voted to ban affirmative action laws. Mr. Bruns has put his powerpoint on the CWI page so that we can study for the test which will be this Thursday and Friday.
