Today in class we watched a movie on the 20’s.What made the 1920’s roaring and exciting.There were a lot of new inventions and innovations. People based their lives on spending money. You could now buy on credit which allowed you to buy things you couldn’t afford and pay over time. The cars allowed the people to have a little more private life that didn’t rely on public transportation. There were many new forms of entertainment. Women were able to do things that they had never been able to do in much higher numbers. Electric appliances allowed people to cook and clean easier. Because of advertising people bought all sorts of things. Movies became extremely popular and were very influential.Jazz made its way north from the African Americans. Jazz was extremely popular although it was extremely controversial. Whites would go into Harlem and would enjoy themselves at illegal bars. Prohibition only made this worse. Sports also had their own heroes that made them widely popular. There was a false prosperity that many thought would last forever and would help them fulfill the American Dream.
