Today the internet was not working at all. Mr. Bruns did his power point and asked us questions. We discussed the questions. The election of 1932 FDR beat out Hoover. Many people didn’t like Hoover because they blamed him for the Great Depression. FDR’s Brain Trust, Roosevelt had a monopoly of smart people, he surrounded him with smart people that gave him advice. The National Industrial Recovery Act was out to try to help the common worker, it guaranteed them minimum wage and working hours. The Blue Eagle code was for store, restaurants, and companies, it let people know that they treated their employees and workers right. The slogan was, “We Do Our Part.” Mr. Bruns told us that we will want to talk about the NIRA for factory workers.

-Stephanie’s project finally opened so she went. Stephanie’s topics were Charles Coughlin and The Soil Conservation and Domestic Allotment Act. Charles Coughlin was born October 25, 1891. He used the radio to talk about political and religous issues. Soil Conservation Act was passed in 1936. It was started by Hugh Hammond Bennet and it was designed to support. It helped to correct problems from the previous act. It taught farmers how to take care of their land so there wasn’t another dust bowl. It helped protect sharecroppers and tenant farmers.
