Today we are having blog discussions about our assigned topics. The class consisted of giving and listening to speech-ish things and asking questions about the topics. My notes are as follows;
1.Describe the Native American's Culture before and after the Europeans Came
Before- Native Americans were mostly nomadic. European imports were all very new to them. They used all parts of animals they killed, rather than killing for no reason like the English. They had wars amonst tribes. Native Americans migrated across the land bridge from Asia. Natives had many nature Gods.
After- Once Europeans tried moving westward, Natives were angered because they were trying to take their land. Contact between the Natives and the Europeans also caused the Natives to pick up fatal diseases. Many wars occurred between the two people. Some Natives were taught the language of English.
2. Describe reasons why the Europeans started exploring in the late 1400's.
They wanted better trade and more goods, such as spices and silks from Asia.They also wanted to expand their land to gain power, money, and resources. Europeans tried expanding their religion also to other cultures and people. Technology allowed the Europeans to explore more and more as the years passed.
3. List the major countries, including some of the main explorers, and where they settled
Great Britain, France, Spain, Portugal, and the Netherlands were the major exploring countries. Vasco da Gama of Portugal, Amerigo Vespuci and Christopher Columbus of Spain, John Cabot of England, Magellan of Spain circumnavigated the world. Spain settled near Florida, Central South America, Western U.S. France settled in Canada and the Mississippi River. England settle the 13 colonies. Portugal claimed Brazil.
