is obtaining secret info against a group or person and return that info to the person or group going against the person who has the secret info
There was a lot of spying going on in WW2
Takoe Yoshikawa
Takoe was a naval recruit that came to Hawaii in 1937, was to give Japan info on US military postions
He scouted out how Pearl Harbor was designed where fleets were located radar towers and also watched the military pattern when he left before the attack
When he got message of the planned attack he destroyed all of his evidence

Reinhard Gehlen
After WW2 was over a Hitlers top german advisor turned info over to the US
he turned over all the info that Germany had on the Soviet Union to the US
He gave enough info for the CIA to start
Morris Cohen
was an American that gave secret info to the Soviets about the Manhattan Project, that was about teh Atomic Bomb
Was an active communist in America, after WW2 he went back to Moscow to be communist
Before goint to Moscow he was exchanged for a British spy

Many people were hired as spies if the were multi-lingual
A lot of multi-lingual people were used for interrogating POWs
Internment camps
On Feb 2 1942 Roosevelt signed Executive order 9066
After the attack on pearl harbor many japs were put internment camps
the internment camps had bad medical care and many japs died
In December of 1944 the japs internees were allowed to return to their homes
The Enigma Machine
Germans had many Enigma coding machine which sent secret messages through a network
Many US decoders could break codes adn read the messages
A lot of german operations were known about due to the decoding of the allies
The code name we gave to decoding the german code was Ultra the machine that was made to actually broke the code was called the bomb
The intercepting and decoding of jap code was called Magic

Yalta Conference
The conference was held in a resort town called Yalto on Feb 4-11 in 1945. The "Big Three" met there to decide the fate of post-war Europe. Franklin D. Roosevelt, Churchill, Stalin
Goal of this conference was to dicuss the many aspects of the time
the plan was to break germany into 4 different zones French British, American, and Soviet
these plans were kept secret
The USSR secretly agreed to enter the war against Japan within three months of Germany's surrender
and they were assured land
