Today i continued to present, here is some more info on Pacific Front.

56% of Japanese merchant men were sunk by US submarines.

US fought and captured Iwo Jima from Japan.

US used flamethrowers and grenades to clear out tunnell bunkers.

Heavy machine gun and artillery fire also used.

Roosevelt's new doctrine stated that unrestricted submarine warfare was okay on Japan and they could sink ships and not help out fallen soldiers.

Imperial Japanese Navy and the United States doctrine stated that commerce raiding was outlawed but the US still relied on it heavily.

Commerce Raiding-use of naval forces to destroy the supply lines of an enemy on the open sea, rather than engaging the combatants themselves or enforcing a blockade against them.
Island Hopping-“crossing an ocean by a series of shorter journeys between islands, as opposed to a single journey directly across the ocean to the destination”
