Getting control and building Panama Canal- French tried to build it but there was a lot of disease so they failed. The Emporer of Spain looked into it, then there was a Panama railway. The US finally got control over it and built it. Before starting to build we needed to get rid of malaria and yellow fever so they drained the swamps. Now the Panama Canal is controled by Panama. Aimed to benifit all contries.Monroe Doctrine- Presented by President Monroe, warning to European countries to keep out of the Western Hemisphere and we'd stay out of their land other wise something would happen. Maybe war.Roosevelt Corollary- Goes along with the Monroe Doctrine, President TR was an arbitrator between Latin Anerica and Europe because they didn't get along so TR would step in to help. Latin America took loans from European countries and couldn't pay them back so they got mad and TR would step in.Big Stick Diplomacy- Having a strong military, "Speak softly and carry a big stick."Taft's dollar dipomacy- Investing a lot of money in countries to ultimately control the most of the money.Wilson's Missionary Diplomacy- We wouldn't reconize a country's government that went against what the US believed.
