What made the 1920s roaring and exciting? It was a third industrial revolution. The first car was made and Henry ford made them the fastest they have ever been made. And paid them wages that were beyond anyone else. They got new benefits and the people were now able to buy on credit. And people bought things as buy now pay later. More Americans lived in the cities than in the countries. Only the very wealthy people lived in the suburbs. It was very easy for them to be able to get to the city and young people could get out and go and do things easier and didn’t have to stay at home. Women started to change their lives and fast. The nineteenth amendment let women vote. Women were getting education and dating and doing sports and dressed different and had looser clothing and shorter skirts and cut their hair and drank. The women that did this were known as the flappers. Electricity became a popular thing. But farmers did not have this wonderful thing. Radio came about in the twenties also and there was a lot of advertising. Young men and women went to movies and young men claimed to learn how to kiss and smoke and say they learned so much from movies. Movies were the most powerful and popular things. Actors and actresses were a huge influence. The jazz age changed music completely. Jazz came up from the south to Harlem. Harlem was the largest black town and biggest. Blacks had a ton more rights and started to do what white men did. The blacks got a new name, Negro. This word Negro was the word to describe the new black man. Prohibition was made in the eighteenth amendment that made the selling and buying alcohol. But people still found ways to drink.ww1 had also unleashed fear of foreigners and the KKK was created. Scope still taught evolution after it became illegal. Boxing became very popular. There was very popular in every sport. Charles Limburg flew accost the Atlantic alone. Then the great depression happened.
