Torture Allegations (Bush Admin.)

Torture allegations have surfaced during the Bush Administration. These allegations are very disturbing and cruel on many levels.Mohammed Qahtani was tortured for supposedly planning on taking part of the attack on Sept. 11, 2001. Susan Crawford is the one responsible for looking over what happens at the camp. She claims that the torture efforts were the legal definiton of torture, and that's why she did not report them. Qahtani was left nude, isolated, sleep deprivated, and left him in a life threatening situation. He was forced to wear woman's undergarments, and was hopsitalized twice during his stay. A man being forced to wear woman's undergarments is wrong on so many levels.Another form of torcher is waterboarding. Waterboarding consists of a person lying on their back with water be poured on them continuously. This will make them feel like they are drowning. The water gets into their breathing passages and makes them feel as if dying. It terrorizes people to the point where they are scared of showers and rain. When does this torture become illegal? When someone dies? These procedures are way too durastic for getting information.Abu Ghraib Prison has been said to also having torture performed at the prison. Manadel al-Jamadi has reportedly died at the prison. The death was considered homicide, but the two men causing the death have yet to be prosecuted. In the U.S. people are prosecuted for simple things, so why is it that these men are not prosecuted? It is said that a teen Iraqi boy had been raped by a uniformed man, and that a female US military police was taking photos. Senior US officials finally admitted rape happening at the prison after multiple rapes had taken place. Admitting this is good, but admitting it after months of it happening is not the point.Dick Cheney says he is not happy about the torture memos being released. He also states that they've showed the torture, but have not showed how successful the efforts have been. Cheney wants the memos to be classified again. Obama wants to ban these torture efforts, but Cheney feels like the torture save lives. The torture during the Bush administration, Cheney thinks that these torture acts have prevented mass attacks on the U.S. Dick Cheney just needs to face the facts...torture is torture. It may be saving U.S. lives, but it's also killing many others from other countries.
