The floods are tearing through the breadbasket of the country. It is described as the country's worst-ever natural calamity. Many people have had to flee from the cites affected by the floods. More than six-teen hundred people have been killed, and many injured.

2- Oil Spill
It all started on BP's Deepwater Horizon drilling rig's hydrocarbon stream ignited and caused an explosion. It could be months before it will be cleaned up. Many people are helping clean up. So hopefully the spill will be cleaned up soon.
I think the oil spill is the worst thing that has happened in a while. I hope it gets cleaned up soon.

3- Imployee Opens Fire
An employee of Hartford Distributors was caught stealing alcohol from the truck he was the driver of for the company, and asked to resign. He then pulled out a handgun and shot eight people and then himself.
I don't know why he would do that just because he was asked to resign. He wouldn't of done it if he hadn't of been stealing.

4- China's Economy Passed Japan's
China's economy has been growing for the past few years. It finally passed Japan's becoming the 2nd largest in the world. Just behind the United States, but experts say China will pass the U.S. in the year 2030.
I hope that China never passes us. But it is possible their economy has been growing a lot lately.
