Today we started Cold war presentations. I am so glad that I wont go at all this week. I probably wont go till Tuesday or Wednesday. Woo!!! Then we did more of the ITED things…

  1. Define the Cold War and it's causes

-A political, strategic, and ideological struggle between the U.S. and the Soviet Union.

It was from 1945-1990.

-Eastern Europe is communist and the western Europe is democratic.

-Communist vs. Democracy

Democracy is where we vote for a leader. People can say what they want and do what they want.

-Communism is when one person would like take over and people had to listen to them and they couldn’t vote for who they wanted.

-Causes-

The red scare was between 1917 and 1920. The Russian Revolution something about them. And our government was very anti communist. The immigrants were anti government. The US and Western Europe were allied. We were scared because we might become communist.

The Beliefs were the Soviet Union was communist and the US was capitalist democracy. The Soviet Union put the state before civil rights. They took away all the peoples stuff. The soviets wanted to spread communism all over the world. The U.S. feared communism. We did not want to have it.

The Aims were that Stalin wanted huge separation from Germany. Stalin didn’t want to be taken over by Germany like all the other countries were. The U.S and Great Britain wanted to protect democracy because European states were falling under Soviet control.

In 1918 we wanted to destroy the Russian Revolution like in the red scare. In WWII the Soviet Union thought we should of helped them more.
