Today Italy gave their presentation.

1. How did the Treaty of Versailles impact them?

-It had a lot of negative effects. They were promised land if they would join the allied powers, but they didn’t and they didn’t get much.


2. What type(s) of government did this country have in the interwar years(1919-1938)?

-They had a fascist government.


3. How did their leader, that led them throughout WWII, come to power?

-Benito Mussolini was the Prime minister. He was voted in to become prime minister by the people.


4. How did this leader change their country (for the better and worse) prior to WWII?

-When the whole world was in a depression Mussolini helped them through it. He made all of Italy Fascist. He also made the trains run on time. Like, he made everything run smoothly and efficient. Fascist government was bad because if someone disagreed then they would just kill him.


5. What were the goals of the leader?

-Orlando’s goal was to get land back for Italy. He wanted his fair share of land after the war. He expected to be treated equally and get as much land as everyone else.

Mussolini wanted to build up the military and make it stronger.


6. What was the military strategy of this country in the inter-war years (1919-1938)?

-They were helping Spain and they were sending troops over there and giving Spain weapons. They wanted to build there military up and they wanted to invade countries.


7. What role did they play in WWII?

-They invaded a lot of places. When they invaded Ethiopia they turned and supported the Axis powers. They tried to invade Great Britain for the sea. It was hard for them to invade anywhere because their machinery was not up to par. They wanted to invade the Soviet Union and the US.


8. Who were their allies in WWII?

-Germany. For the first 10 months of the war they remained neutral.


9. How did WWII impact/effect the country?

-600,000 troops were killed in WWII and that impacted their army. They lost a lot of their colonies. The industry was bad and it’s still not that great today. They were very week and Hitler’s troops had to help them out a lot.
