Today Bruns was gone but we still did presentations anyway. Today France went.

1. How did the Treaty of Versailles impact them?

-France got land back that Germany had taken away. France wanted to control Germany.


2. What type(s) of government did this country have in the interwar years(1919-1938)?

-They had a Representative Democracy or republic.


3. How did their leader, that led them throughout WWII, come to power?
-Charles De Gaulle was the General. He left for England to fight against Germany and France.

4. How did this leader change their country(for the better and worse) prior to WWII?

5. What were the goals of the leader?
-To get France back from Germany. They wanted to get Hitler out of France.

6. What was the military strategy of this country in the inter-war years(1919-1938)?
-They declared war on Germany. There defensive strategy didn’t really work because they thought that the Germans couldn’t get through, but they did. It didn’t work because the Germans went around the Maginot line. It was pretty much worthless.

7. What role did they play in WWII?

8. Who were their allies in WWII?
-China, US, Great Britain, Australia, Canada, USSR.

9. How did WWII impact/effect the country?

-They had territories in West Africa and they changed after the war.
