What was the New Deal(1st and 2nd) and it's goals(3 R's)?
-The second New Deal came about because the first one didn’t solve the great depression. The first one was aimed at the bigger businesses and the second one is to help the lower class people.
Why did people criticize the New Deal?
Why was FDR upset with the US Supreme Court and what did he do to try to solve this issue?
-FDR’s plan was to stack the Supreme court in his favor so that he could pass the New Deal. The Bill allowed the president to appoint a new judge. He couldn’t appoint more than six. He wanted to appoint six new justices, but never could because it never passed. In the later years he appointed 7 new justices because a lot of people retired.
How did the New Deal help:
factory workers/labor –The NRA set minimum wage and set maximum hours. It helped establish labor unions as well. It was not very good and black markets developed. Businesses with the “blue eagle” were the “better businesses”. It was a symbol that meant the owners were treating their employees with respect and fairly.
young people –Eleanor Roosevelt started it and got FDR to approve it. It allowed young people to stay in school. It allowed them to get jobs so they can afford school.
