Today in class we went over blog assignments. I learned that socialism is when the government runs a business to make it easier for everyone. Carl Marks invented this theory. The socialists despised capitalist because it benefited the riches. In the 60's it basically died out. There is still a socialist party, its a democrat socialists party. They want to make it more equal for everybody. Socialists would take land from the rich and give it to the poor. They were like extreme progressives.The muckrakers are someone that exposes something in society. Today they would be called investigated journalists. They would go into mechanics places and the mechanics would have cameras in the cars and these muckrakers would try to destroy the car and would be caught on tape. The word was first use by Teddy Roosevelt. Stevens, Sinclair, Tarbell would major ones. They impacted our country in a great way. They exposed a lot of problems in our country.I think that muckrakers really had a big influence on our country and are a huge, important part of our country's history.
