Today we did an iteds practice thing. And then we did presentations. Mr. Bruns did a little on his first. The Cold War was from 1945 to 1990, a political, ideological, and strategic battle between the US and the Soviet Union. West- GB, France, US had democracy. East- Soviet Union, eastern Europe, had Communism. Democracy- people have the freedom to say and do what we want, the constitution give us our rights. Communism- the government is first and are in complete control, dominate and overtake people, people are no freedom. Communism doesn't let people have their own land and own things. Capitalism is what the US has people can own their own business. Socailism is where the government runs and controlls businesses.
Alex had the causes of the Cold War. In 1917 the Russian revolution was when the tsar system got replaced. Provisional Party overthrown and the communist party took over. The Red Scare was between 1917 and 1920. The Russian revolution is when it took place, the US didn’t want communist people in our country. The Sedition Act of 1918 said that immigrants wouldn’t come to our country and be communist and go against our government. A lot of times people tried to associate labor workers with communism. Other causes of the Cold War are, beliefes, trust, and actions. Beliefes- States before civil rights, the Soviets wanted to spread communism world-wide. US beliefes are capitalist democracy and we were afraid of communism.

Stalin wanted to make the surrounding European countries communist after WWII. He wanted to feel protected if they were ever invaded. US and GB wanted to protect democracy.
