1. How did the Treaty of Versailles impact them?

Got some land but kinda upset they didnt get as much as they wanted..


2. What type(s) of government did this country have in the interwar years(1919-1938)?

Fascism-violence and war is okay..blackshirts collided with communism(Mussolini's army)


3. How did their leader, that led them throughout WWII, come to power?

Mussolini was elected Chamber of Deputies in 1921..


4. How did this leader change their country(for the better and worse) prior to WWII?

Used his blackshirts to fight anyone who was against fascism..Started as axis powers in 1940..switched to allied powers in 1943..started invading countries..


5. What were the goals of the leader?

Colonize into Africa to compete with Britain and France.. Wanted to make Italy the "great, respected, and feared."


6. What was the military strategy of this country in the inter-war years(1919-1938)?

Wanted to help Hitler and not overrun him..keep supplies by the twin towns..


7. What role did they play in WWII?

Stayed in isolation for first part of the war. To help Hitler and not overrun him.

8. Who were their allies in WWII?
Germany, Austria and Hungary, Japan, parts of Yugoslavia, French navy

9. How did WWII impact/effect the country?

Lost all of its colonies..Govt collapsed once Germany came into Italy..Mussolini was hanged and dragged around behind a truck cuz the people of Italy despised him..

Got a lot of Germany's northern islands..The land Germany got from China was given to Japan instead of given back to china..Got to be part of league of nations..

2. What type(s) of government did this country have in the interwar years(1919-1938)?
Two party political system where two major parties dominate the votes at almost all elections..Hara Takashi became first common person to be prime minister in 1918..Hirohito became emperor in 1926..pretty much a constitutional monarchy where the emperor is in charge but he has other people there to make sure he doesnt get too much power..

3. How did their leader, that led them throughout WWII, come to power?
Hirohito was the son of Prince Yoshihoto and princess Sakado..When his grandpa(the emperor) died Hirohito's father became emperor but when he became sick with a mental illness so Hirohito became emperor..Great depression is what really was the cause for them to reduce their navy and in 1931 the military took over and their leader by 1940 was Hideki Tojo..

4. How did this leader change their country(for the better and worse) prior to WWII?
Hirohito didn't do jack!!..Military leaders changed things more because they did stuff like reduce the navy, join the league of nations, and invade Mancuria(province in China)

5. What were the goals of the leader?
Expand their boundaries into mainland Asia..Invaded Mancuria to get resources and invade China also to get resources but mainly because Japan also wanted to dominate that area..

6. What was the military strategy of this country in the inter-war years(1919-1938)?
Attacked Pearl Harbor- thought that the US wouldn't think it was worth it to go into war..Torchered the POW's(Prisoners of War)..Wanted resources and they used Chemical weapons like when they invaded China they used some illegal gas..
