They were not involved in the treaty of Versailles but they signed a different treaty, the Brest-Litovsk which gave Germany land because they dropped out. They signed a non aggression pact with the Nazis at the beginning of the Second World War which gave them the lands they lost with the other treaty.

He took all the educated people into labor camp and they had to do a lot of hard labor. Farmers were put into the military, and the military was told they could get input into the government. This was to try and get communism to take off. They labor was cheaper than lead to kill people.

Stalin killed anyone who could overthrow him and wanted to protect the border. He killed the Generals and during the war they just pulled back until the winter drove them back.

They were a major player and Hitler wanted to go coast to coast. They signed a non aggression pact with Hitler and they were eventually invaded but the winter drove them back.

They were allied with Germany, kind of, at the beginning but then they went to the Allies after they were invaded.

9. How did WWII impact/effect the country?

Gave them great pride in winning the war and they became a major power but they became competitive with US. 20 million people were dead.
