I presented first.IRA:The Indian Reorganization Act was set up to help out many Indians in despairEssentially it gave them more land that we took from themThis act got rid of Dawes Act and broke up land and gave it to individual tribes. Land of the indians went from 138 million square acres in 1887 to only 48 million square acresThe IRA was also known as the Wheeler-Howard ActEven though this act was made to help the Indians many tribes such as the Crows Klamateh and Navajo chose to reject it. 174 accepted the act and 78 rejected it.IRA started in 1934we essentially grew away from this act over the yearsTried to let the indians manage the land and do their own thingIt was successful by letting the indians go back to the way they wanted to but it was a little to lateStill today they have problems and is in a continually cycle of provertyIndians could not withstand being put on resercations with enemy tribesThey could not keep their gov under control and basically had no formWPA:Harry H. was supplied with 4,800,000,000 dollars to help get unemployed workers back working againIt supplied the unemployed with jobs like building highways, up keeping towns, reforestation, slum clearance, and rural rehabilitationIt was headed by Harry L. Hopkins1935-43Ended because of the war
