Today Rey did his presentation. I learned that the WPA was there to help fund many things like the arts, history and culture of America. It gave people an opportunity to get a job of what you like to do. It provided nearly 1 million students with some kind of work that they new how to do. It helped many people be able to produce music and sculptures and more. Relief Act started on March 6th in 1933 which was a banking holiday that started closing all banks on that day. Public Worrks Administrations were loans to help build dams and such. The relief was for the people. The Federal Housing Act helped repair, rebuild and insure older homes. National Youth Administration helped to keep kids in school. 500,000 agreed to help colleges and schools. The Glass/Steagall Act gave government the right to investigate banking conditions. Reform. Social security mainly only provided for the unemployed, aged, dependent, and handicapped.Jackie did her presentations about the Civil War Administration and Franklin D. Rosevelt. It was created in the fall of 1933 and was band that following spring. They hired about four million people. The CWA took several million relief reciepients off of the federal dole and gave them employment and regular wages. It only lasted 6 months because they were spending too much money in the little amount of time. It was unsuccessful because it only lasted that long because of the price. Franklin D. Roosevelt was born January 30, 1882 in Hyde Park, New York. He graduated from Harvard College. He was the 32nd president, he was elected in 1932.
