-Nick went first today his two topics were the NYA and the difference between the first and second new deal. The first new deal was aimed at the buisness on top and the second new deal was aimed at the people that didn't have jobs. The first new deal was to get America out of the depression and the second new deal basically did the same thing, it just worked better to get people jobs and such.

-Kody went next and his two topics were the NRA(workers)and Deficit Spending. The National Recovery Administration set minimun wages and working hours. Helped establish labor unions also. If companies and businesses had the blue eagle in their window, it meant that they were "doing thier part." They were paying their employees well. Deficit spending is when the government buys things that

-Chelsea went next and her two topics were the TVA and townsend. The TVA was a federal agency established in 1933. It constructed damns, powerplants along the tennessee river. They made damns because there was a lot of flooding. It helped farmers a lot.It is still around today but it was successful. It was very controvesial because people had to pay taxes for it and people didn't want to if it only benefited people in Tennessee. Townsend critisized Roosevelt because he didn't think the New Deal was going far enough. He thought the old people should be involved more. He wanted a pension of $200 for each person over 60.

-Lucas went next. His two topics were FDR's court packing plan and the banking act of 1933. The court-packing plan was FDR's plan to stack the Supreme Court in his favor so they would pass the New Deal. The bill allowed FDR to appoint new judges. The next four years FDR appointed seven new justices because people were retiring. The Banking Act of 1933 established the FDIC and put peoples faith back into the banks.

The SEC

The Security Exchange Commision is what SEC stands for. It issued new laws for the banks.

Priming the Pump

Priming the pump was putting money in circulation, and it stimulated the economy.

What was the New Deal(1st and 2nd) and it's goals(3 R's)?The first new deal aimed at the businesses on top and the second new deal aimed at the people that didn't have jobs. They both helped get America out of the depression.

Why did people criticize the New Deal?

Townsend didn't think the New Deal was going far enough. He thought it should involve the old people more. He wanted a pension of $200 for each person over the age of 60.

Why was FDR upset with the US Supreme Court and what did he do to try to solve this issue?

The Supreme court wasn't going to pass FDR's New Deal because they thought it was unconstitutional. The court had mostly old people who were old school. The Court-Packing Plan was FDR's idea to stack the Supreme Court in his favor so his plan would be passed.
