Why did people criticize the New Deal?

Why was FDR upset with the US Supreme Court and what did he do to try to solve this issue?

How did the New Deal help:


unemployed- Pwa helped people get jobs by making roads and constructing the highways- CWA created 4 million jobs but were only temporary, they made bridges air ports. US gave jobs to low income people who needed jobs so they could build houses. Works Project Administartion- gave jobs to people to get working again. Built highways and parks inorder to keep up towns.Ended in 1943 because of the up coming war.

farmers-

factory workers/labor- NYA gave people jobs. NLRB- established minimum wage and max. work hours.

young people- NYA granted young people money gave them jobs. CCC- Helped the young unemployed people get jobs. For 18-25 years only single men.

banks/business- RFC gave loans to many buisness and farmers. FSA regulated the sale of securities or stocks. Prohibited fraud in the sales of stocks.

Stock Market- FSA prohibited fraud in the sales of stocks. also prohibited pooling of stocks. Emergency Banking relief Act- prevented banks for closing for good.

Banking Act of 1933- Established the FCIC. was also called the Glass Steagall Act. speperated commercial banking and investment banking.


home owners- FHA controled intrest rates on terms of mortages. helped people buy homes by helping them afford the down payment. Allowed people to buy houses because it expanded the time allowed to pay off a persons house.

elderly- SSA tax taken out of your income for survivours old age and disabled.

Native Americans- Indian Reorganization Act- helped out native americans. Broke up land and gave it to individual tirbes.

Describe the culture of the 1930's.- Great period for American Music. Country music was popular was also called Hillbilly Music. Swing dancing was popular.

Movies- Moveis were black and white with no sound. Soon later many genes were inroduced. Snow white was the first fully animated movie with color and sound. Wizard of Oz and Gone with the wind were produced at this time.
