5) Describe the differences between the northeast, middle, and southern colonies
notheastern- they were very business based
middle-kinda took both and mixed together
southern-based on big plantaions. tabacco, cotton, idego. rich white males. and had slaves
7) Causes and Effects of the Revolutionary War.
causes: britan taxing things in the colonies with out telling them why. the reason for the taxing was that britan was in major debt. also britan wouldnt let them have a seat in congress so they could get there veiws in to. there saying was, "NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTAITON!!!!" britan made them have soilders stay in there homes and when the soilders would do something wrong they wuld go to court in britan so they had little or no setance at all. the boston tea party and the boston masscure were also reasons for the war.
only 1/3 was for making it there own country. 1/3 was for britan and the other 1/3 didnt care at all
effects: we became our own country, britan was forced to move north to canada.
8) Declaration of Independance
didnt like taxation. telling britan that we have the right to break apart from britan. and how they didnt like taxation without representation. told britan that we were declaring ourselves a different country.
9)descibe the articles of confederation and why it failed.
was the 1st government of the united states. it was set up by giving most power to the states and not the the federal. the federal government had to ask for money and the states would say no. it took 9 out of 13 of the states had to say yes. it was more like each had there own little countries.
it failed because no matter how big the state was they only had one person in d.c. it lasted about 7 years. it failed because the leaders of the country said that it would fall apart. the reason for the states having power because of britan.
10) descibe the us constitution
broke into 3 parts
judical- courts
executive-president
congress- house and senate
has admedments. first 10 are the bill of rights because they protect our rights. first ten were written with the constitution. and 17 have been added. some are for women, 18 yr and above, people in d.c can now vote. got rid of alchol for 13 years. added alchol back.
11) us political parties
democratic-republic- jefferson - more state government and strict interpertaitons constitution. wanted power to the farmers and poorer people. was 3rd president
federalist- hamelton- believed in strong national government, and looser interpertaitions constitution. wanted a econmoy based on business and rich. hamilton was shot by jeffersons vice president.
both had opiosite veiws of everything. george washington said that we should not have them. thought they would spilt the country.
