Today in class we did the last presentation and then Mr. Bruns started with his big PowerPoint. I had a ton more stuff for today but Word crashed and deleted my stuff.
Homefront
A lot of people moved to the west coast. People migrated for jobs and available housing. Bases were established or enlarged. There was major overcrowding on public transportation. People started rationing goods for the war and it started with rubber and then went to a ton of different items. People started using food stamps and you could get one book for yourself and once they were gone for the week you had to wait for more. Women took over the jobs created by the war since the men were off fighting. Women started working in some places where they haven’t before and it showed men that women could do those jobs. They fought for equal pay and they started becoming pilots.
The Big Picture
After WW1 we thought about what made us get into that war and we didn’t want to have that happen again. With the Selective Training and Service Act it started the peacetime draft. Operation Barbarosa was the largest land war in history against the Soviets by Germany.
