Mexican American War- Mexico vs. United States, U.S. won, we got the south west part of the country. Mexico was mad because they lost half of their country. Manifest Destiny was what we wanted; we needed to expand our borders. The war wasn't really justified; it was just to get land.Lincoln's presidency- Many consider him to be one of the top presidents. He was the 16th president, tried to end slavery, made the Emancipation Proclamation which was designed to free the slaves in the southern states. The Gettysburg address was like a funeral speech that he gave after the bloody battle at Gettysburg. The 13th amendment officially ended slavery. The south didn't want Lincoln to become president because they were worried about his views on slavery. Then the south left the union when he was elected.Civil War- The Confederates, south, and the Union, north, 1861-1865. The Union won; they had more soldiers and better resources then the south. Their health care was better, so injuries were taken care of better. The south had better generals though. The North had more of everything railroads, food, factories, and more.-Breann Lehr
