Today were are going to start the Cold War Presentations. Zach started with the Causes of the Cold War. The Cold War was between the Communists and the Non-Communists. At the end of World War II Germany was split up into four seperate parts. The four parts were controlled by the US, Great Britain, France, and the Soviet Union. This was probably the number one cause of the war. After we made an atomic bomb the Soviet Union was mad that we made it without telling them, so they decided to make an atomic bomb of their own. It was the ultimate defensive weapon. The Bolshevik Revolution was when the Bolsheviks came to power and the Communists came to power. The Red Scare was started because of a wide spread fear of communism. It was started by Alexander Mitchell Palmer. Another cause of the Cold War was just that the two types of government were completely different.
The Policy of Containment was what the United States used to stop the spread of communism. It built up foreign security, prevent the domino effect, and President Truman best represented the Policy of Containment. George Keenan was the creator of the Policy of Containment. He was a US ambassador and diplomat. He was the critic of numerous international policies. The Domino Effect was a Communism Theory. If the Soviets took over more and more countries then the whole world would become Communist. The Domino Effect helped bring up the Policy of Containment.
