Today we continued to go over the World War I powerpoint. I learned that the homefront was what people did in the United States to try and help win the war. An examples of this would include the Red Cross, working in factories to make weapons and ammunition, planting victory gardens(planting your own food), and also buying war bondsI learned that the War Industries Board regulated what the industries were doing in the United States during the war. America had a lot of supplies throughtout the war. Another thing that I learned was that maybe the most important was the United State's supply of food. Herbert Hoover was the leader of the The Food Administration. This grouped helped to conserve the food supplies in the U.S. The group had certain days where the U.S. citizens would not eat meat or wheat. I also learned that a lot of citizens believed that food would win the war. Another group that was started during this time was the Committee on Public Information. The goal of this group was to influence the public's opinion to support WWI. This is an example of propaganda.
