Today I continued to research on Muckrakers. I learned that Ida B. Tarbell wrote a numerous amount of magazine articles that showed the business practices of the Standard Oil Company. Another thing that I learned about her was that she also published her results in the book The History of the Standard Oil Company. Next I looked up Lincoln Steffens. I learned that he was an investigator that investigated corruption in the government. He published his results in the book Shame of the Cities. Today I learned that the character in Paul Bunyan was a man who was raked muck all the time, and never lifted his eyes from the junk that he was raking.Next, I looked up the History of the Standard Oil Company. I learned that it was a book written by Ida B. Tarbell, that she used to expose the wrongdoing of the Standard Oil Company. I also learned that it inspired many other journalists to write about the trusts of large businesses. The is what is thought to have lead to the breakup of the Standard Oil Company. This is what I learned about the History of the Standard Oil Company.
