Today, we finished up the presentations and are taking our states and capitals test. One presentation was Capitalism. Capitalism- An economic political system where businesses are privatly owned. People own and control business. The countries that have it: U.S., Canada. It came from the early middle ages. Free enterprise system is relatively the same thing. Democrats and Capitalism go well together because people own it. Socialism is the opposite of Capitalism. It's where the government controls business. Socialism and Communism go together because they are designed to make people more equal. We are mostly Capitalism but we have some Socialism. Obama was labeled a socialist when he wanted government provided healthcare. When we were done with that we took the states and capitals test which will go into tomorrow.
